History

Osstem Implant was founded in 1997 in South Korea by a practising dentist, and grew rapidly into the leading dental solution supplier in the Asia-Pacific market by pairing high-volume manufacturing with an extensive clinical education programme.

The company established Hiossen in Pennsylvania in 2006 to carry its products into the US market, where the two operate as parent and subsidiary with overlapping but separately branded product lines.

In 2023 a consortium of private equity firms MBK Partners and UCK acquired Osstem through a tender offer valuing it at roughly ₩2.5 trillion, securing an 83.6% stake via the holding vehicle Dentistry Investment.
