History

Dr. Gerald Niznick - described in the trade press as a godfather of American implant dentistry, and previously the founder of Core-Vent - formed Implant Direct LLC in early 2004 and launched its product line in November 2006. The model was deliberately disruptive: comparable implant designs sold at a fraction of premium pricing, largely online and direct.

Niznick sold 75% of the company to Sybron, a Danaher division, on 31 December 2010, forming the Implant Direct Sybron joint venture, and sold his remaining 25% in January 2014. The business passed into Envista Holdings at the 2019 Danaher dental spinoff.
