OXY implant (Biomec)

Biomec S.r.l. was founded in 1990 by Romolo Micheletti and Olivio Della Bella in Colico, Lecco, Italy. The company began as a contract manufacturer of dental implants, starting in a small warehouse with two manual machines before purchasing its first CNC lathe.

The founders' journey began in 1983 when they started producing dental implants (Dispoimplant line) at a dental studio in Colico, during the era when Prof. Brånemark's pioneering studies on osseointegration with titanium screws were beginning to be accepted.

In 2006, Biomec launched its own Oxy Implant brand, receiving CE certification for the first product line called 'Classic' (internal connection implant). Shortly after, the 'Piesse' line was launched with platform switching.

In 2018, Biomec introduced FIXO, its first one-piece implant designed for immediate loading, featuring a pre-mounted abutment protected by patent. The FIXO line has since expanded to include Fixo Mini, Fixo Pterygo, and Fixo Zygoma variants.

In 2021, Biomec launched Oxy Digital Solutions (ODS) to support the growing digitalization of dentistry, offering advanced technologies for surgical planning, 3D printing, and CAD/CAM milling including the Pcube surgical guide.

In 2022, Biomec was among the first Italian dental implant companies to obtain MDR (Medical Device Regulation) certification for all Oxy Implant products. The company celebrated 35 years of operation in 2025.

Biomec produces 100% of components in-house using CNC machinery with micron-level tolerances. The company uses Grade 4 titanium (99.9% pure) and has developed the AMS (Advanced Micro Surface) treatment combining chemical etching, decontamination, and cold argon plasma treatment.
